So my show, Curious Nature, it's for real! Not that it was fake the last time I posted, but...it feels more real, now. The poster has been designed, and I went and printed them off with my friend Mike, and now we have to go put them up in places, and everything is so so so exciting! I'm freaking out a little, but it's a good feeling. My work has changed a lot in the past month, and it's still a little weird for me to go into my studio and see the new stuff---I'm very interested to see what everyone thinks about it.
Not that anyone cares, but I just started drinking coffee again after a one year hiatus, and I feel pretty fabulous about it.

I'm getting ready for my first solo show here in Grand Rapids at the DAAC, this really cool space that does a lot of music and (duh) art shows. I need to decide, like, today, what my show title is, so as of right now it's going to be Curious Nature, based off of this quote from the incredible artist Brian Andreas:
possessed of an acute sense of smell
& a curious nature
so no matter what city she goes to
she always ends up in Chinatown.
My art has always been about being curious and exploring, and finding a different way of seeing the things that live around me each day. So maybe I'm not finding myself in Chinatown ever (does Grand Rapids even have a Chinatown??), but I do know that I'm a rambling soul searching for interesting places and things.
Another quote that has been so heartening to my work:
And above all, watch with glittering eyes
the whole world around you
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.
I saw it when I was being nosy on facebook a week or so ago, and it jolted me out of this art funk I've been in for the past month. It also made me think that I should be doing a lot less
facebook stalking. Thanks R.D., this was just what I needed.
Anyways ----- Gallery party on April 4th! Come!
