I haven't kept a sketchbook in a long time. I mean, like any good artist I carry one around, but lately all I've been doing in them is write To Do lists and do really bad figure drawings (I'm so rusty!) from my one camping weekend this summer. So at Boat Show I bought this really beautiful leather bound journal from the amazingly talented Catherine Griesen----google her---there's nothing in her Etsy shop (I think we're kindred spirits, because there's nothing in mine either) but I'm sure if you e-mailed her she'd be totally down with it. But anyway, her stuff is gorgeous. So there.
In an effort to keep this blog updated during my desert adventure, I'll be posting all of my drawings from this sketchbook---it'll work, I swear! Weekly posts, that's what's going to happen. Fingers crossed.
First one, drawn on the upper deck at my parent's house in the U.P. of Michigan. It's of all the cosmos I planted in my garden in Grand Rapids that I had to leave and now they're going to die because my neighbor Phil is going to be a total boy and not water them ever. Thanks a lot Phil.
Apologies for the crappy image quality. But I've got stuff to do like plan what I'm going to teach in this watercolor class that happens in 45 minutes.
